| Name: Amanda Alva Position: President | My name is Amanda Alva and I'm currently serving as your Vice President of Finance and Communication on the Associated Student Government. I'm excited for the opportunity to run and with your vote, be able to serve the students at BCC next year as Associated Student Government President.
I'm attending BCC for my Science-Transfer degree and hope to attend WWU in 2009. Before becoming a full-time student I gained management experience in a Fortune 500 company for almost five years. I feel that my leadership experience will help me excel at serving my peers here at BCC.
My priority is to evaluate the ASG systems to ensure accessibility to ALL students. I will create a welcoming environment that empowers students to voice their concerns and help improve the ASG. It is very important that every student walks away feeling that they were truly served by their student government. | | Name: Yunita Beatrix Oesman
Position: VP for Equity and Pluralism | Hi Friends, My name is Yunita Beatrix Oesman and I'm an international student from Indonesia majoring in Business. For the past six month, I join several clubs in BCC, such as Campus Crusade for Christ, and volunteering in campus events. I’m also the co-president of UNICEF of BCC and work as a Math Tutor in BCC.
I'm really grateful that each person that I run through in BCC has broadened my insight about others' culture. Hopefully, by running as ASG Vice President of Pluralism and Equity, I may bring the same wonderful experience and advocate culture awareness as well as encourage students to actively participate in campus events.
I realize that this is not an easy job and I may not bring the desired outcome. However, I am willing to work hard and give my best to make BCC a better place to learn, and be part of, for each phenomenal and distinct individual like you! J
| | Name: Shanglun Wang
Position: VP of Equity and Pluralism | Hi, my name is Shanglun Wang. I was born China, being in a class of sixty people and participating in study groups where each student would coach others on subjects they excelled at, I understood the importance of working with people. When I moved to Japan, I understood the importance of pluralism. Being discriminated against in one group and accepted in another, I realized that the only way to treat people is to accept people regardless of the arbitrary differences we have. In this position, I will work toward a BCC of humanity, where people of different cultures can identify with each other as members of humanity – a BCC where people can see each other as members of one family instead of people that they have to tolerate. A vote for me means a vote toward true diversity, true unity, and true humanity.
