llama picturePeru is one of the most amazing countries to study abroad in!  It is the land of the Incas, Machu Picchu, and our first WCCCSA country in South America.  Peru is home to one of the oldest civilizations in the world, the Norte Chico, and is today one of the most popular destinations in South America.  It has a very diverse geography as well as a variety of music, food, art, and cuisine.  For more information on Peru. Site
Classes are held at the AIFS Study Centre in Cusco.
Students will have access to:

  • Computer lounge with internet access
  • Wireless Capability

Courses
Spanish Language (5 credits) is required of all students.

Excursions/Activities

  • Short trek ending at the Inca ruins of Machu Picchu, including round-trip train tickets
  • Overnight in Aguas Calientes, including breakfast, lunch and dinner
  • Guided excursion to the Sacred Valley, including visits to the Old Inca community of Pisac and the Ollantaytambo.  Lunch is included.
  • Guided tour of Cusco, including entrances to the Inca Temple of the Sun, Koricancha, and the archeological ruins of Sacsayhuaman

Housing
Students live in a single room with a homestay.  All meals are included.

Costs
PROGRAM FEES: $2,775 + 5 credits of tuition at home institution (Based on a minimum of 15 participants. Does not include $125 refundable damage deposit.)

Program Dates: August 20-September 19, 2009

Application deadline: Friday, June 5, 2009

Payment Schedule:  $450 due with application*
$2,450 due July 1, 2009 (balance of $2,325 plus $125 refundable damage deposit)

Not Included

  • College tuition and fees
  • Roundtrip airfare from US to Cuzco; (Group flight option available on a space-available basis until June 5, 2009.  For more information contact your campus coordinator.)
  • Passport and visa fees
  • Personal expenses
  • Refundable damage deposit of $125 (due with final payment)
  • Anything not specified as included in the program

Applications received after June 5, 2009 will only be accepted based on availability.
 
Orientation
When:  Saturday, July 18, 2009
Where: Bellevue College / Room - TBA
Time: 10am-3pm
What to Bring: Students need to bring (a) a signed copy of the Student Guidelines, (b) a copy of your passport, (c) flight itineraries for students not on the group flight, (d) a notepad to take notes, and (e) questions.
 
Student participants should also invite parents, guardians, or whomever they feel should attend with them.
Coffee will be provided in the morning and lunch will be served.
