ARTS & HUMANITIES DIVISION
The English Department’s “combination classes” give students the opportunity to approach two topics at the same time to improve their skills and understanding of both. For example, in a 10-credit composition and literature combination, students read, discuss, analyze, and write about significant literary works. The Department recommends that students in combination classes have college-level placement.
Read My World is centered on the theme of literacy (reading, writing and language) and its connection to our personal success in our various communities - personal, academic and public. The course combines college reading and writing and human development instruction. While building our reading, writing and language skills, we will discover how literacy is connected to our own personal success as students and members of our individual communities. We will explore how our personal learning styles impact our learning and overall success in life and apply our learning strengths to areas of learning that require improvement. As an intentional learning community, our section will be a cohort of learners connected through its instructors, projects, coursework and theme.
