AAUW (American Association of University Women) Kirkland-Redmond Branch will accept applications for one or two scholarships of up to $1200 each to be paid directly to a college or university to pay for tuition, fees, or required supplies or books.

Each scholarship will be awarded to a post-high school woman whose education has been interrupted for a year or more and who has returned to school in a two-or four-year college degree program at UW Bothell, Lake Washington Institute of Technology, or Cascadia College. The scholarship will be awarded in April 2013, to be used between June, 2013 and May, 2014. The successful candidates are required to attend a scholarship award ceremony expected to be on April 17, 2013.

Eligibility

To be eligible, the applicant must:

1. be a current or former resident of the Northshore or Lake Washington school districts, or demonstrate other substantial ties to the local community.
2. be a post-high school woman whose education has been interrupted for a year or more and returning to school in a two-or four-year college degree program at UW Bothell, Lake Washington Institute of Technology, or Cascadia Community College.
3. take at least one course per semester/quarter (other than summer). 
4. earn a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 if already enrolled.
5. demonstrate a financial need not otherwise paid by scholarship or other sources.
