AAUW sponsors academic awards to further its commitment to expanding educational opportunities for women. AAUW’s mission is advancing equity for women and girls through advocacy, education and research. More information on AAUW can be found at www.aauw.org.
This $1000 award will cover expenses for tuition, books, or other expenses as determined on an individual basis, for Spring Quarter 2011.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Applicant must demonstrate financial need.
- Applicant must be a female BC student, 25 years of age or older.
- Applicant must be a woman in transition, changing job fields, displaced homemaker, or displaced worker.
- Applicant must be pursuing a degree that requires the application of science, technology, engineering or math
- Applicant must have 30 credit hours of recent academic instruction which includes science, technology, engineering or math
YOUR APPLICATION PACKET MUST INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:
- Typed or neatly printed application form
- Typed or neatly written essay explaining:
- your financial needs
- the role of science, technology, engineering or math in achieving your educational goals
- how you think you can contribute to your chosen field.
- Two letters of reference, preferably from instructors.
- Unofficial transcript from Bellevue College and/or any other colleges attended
- Financial aid award letter, if received

The winner will be requested to attend an AAUW function during Spring 2012. AAUW would like to receive a brief update from the successful candidate on your educational progress by December 15, 2012, to be placed in our branch newsletter.
