POSITION SUMMARY
The IT Desktop team resolves escalated support issues from our IT Service Desk. The successful candidate will be working with internal customers on a daily basis resolving any support questions they can not resolve. Typical tasks would be to troubleshoot and repair laptop or PC hardware/software problems, diagnose and repair problems via email, phone or in person at the user's location, Printer, Copier and Fax troubleshooting and repair, as well as perform regular maintenance. Other tasks include escalating and monitoring issues when dealing with external vendors for warranty repair issues, software installation and repair, and performing software installations for users as required. The incumbent will take ownership of escalated support issues and find resolution to problems, repair returned equipment to be redeployed, deal with external vendors to monitor cost effectiveness and recommend upgrading of appropriate systems and RMA equipment as needed.
Qualifications
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- University or college education in a computer-related technology
- Experience providing customer support (in person, or via e-mail/telephone)
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively (oral and written)
- Proven track record of resolving difficult issues
- Knowledge and hands-on experience with Windows 2000 and XP, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Office suite 2003/2007, and/or Microsoft Exchange Server 2003
- Previous experience troubleshooting hardware and software
- Printer, Copier and Fax, and other peripheral device knowledge required
- MacOSX (10.5, and 10.6) and Entourage experience is desirable
- Must be able to be productive while working alone or in a team environment
- Must have excellent problem solving skills and be process oriented.
