Vision Strategy Team Events
Taste of BC April 16, 2009
For the Taste of BC event, the Vision Strategy team laid out conversation prompts with thoughtful sayings, on all the tables without any introduction or explanation to see if they would elicit any conversation. Several people did in fact read the questions to the people at their table and talked about the questions and the ideas or issues they raised. We were also able to engage people about the work of the committee. Here are the questions, that were printed out on small strips of paper:
Togetherness… what is it? What does it mean (to you)? |
What communities do you feel you are a member of at BCC? |
Community… what is this college’s community like (in your experience)?
|
Sharing... can you describe some things we have in common or things we share? |
Difference… what does it mean to you?
|
What drew you to this event? |
How is food part of (your) culture? |
What can we create together that we cannot create alone? |
The answers/comments will be used to aid us in the development of a community inclusion strategy.

Student Leadership Retreat (Camp Casey), June 26, 2009
VST Presented the scroll, then each member led a portion of the presentation discussing the important role that student leaders play in helping others value diversity and understand the beauty of difference. Asha took names of students and there was a lot of interest. Everyone that responded to the three questions got a raffle ticket. The students were very excited about what they could contribute to the climate at BC. VST also gave the students laminated bookmarks with positive messages and the contact information for VST.
