Living Treasures
Living Treasures Celebration a huge success!
This year’s entertainment will be The Collective Five, jazz band & Chris Jones. The Collective Five is comprised of some of the most talented veterans on the jazz scene not only in the Pacific Northwest, but nationally and internationally as well. Their tenor sax player Darryl Barber spends his days primarily composing film scores for companies mainly in Norway. Frank Clayton was one of the prime movers of the New York City / SOHO jazz "loft scene". He along with his former wife Jay Clayton, Garry Peacock, Herb Ellis, Barry Harris, Julian Priester, Cecil Mcbee, Eddie Gomez, Billy Hart, and many others set the standards for presenting jazz in a concert setting. Frank is one of the bass "stalwarts" on the music scene in the Pacific Northwest. Drummer and band leader Larry honed his music skills while at Rutgers University in New Jersey where among others his colleagues were trumpeter Terence Blanchard, trombonist Frank Lacey, vibraphonist Steve Nelson, bassist Andy McCloud, drummer Victor Lewis, and many other musicians that are prominently on the music scene today. Pherez Key is an inspiring and very talented clarinet player who has just recently been accepted at Cornish College for the Arts in Seattle; a decision she made after receiving several offers from other colleges. She has been astounding audiences wherever she appears and is definitely one to watch in the future.
Back by popular demand is Chris Jones. Chris Jones was the entertainer for Disability PRIDE Day. Chris grew up in the South, and can rock the building playing and singing Gospel, Soul and Blues.
The Living Treasures Celebration turned out to be a wonderful evening! Beabe Akpojovwo and Carol Grant served as co-chairs, and did an amazing job of pulling all of the details together to make the event a smooth and fun-filled evening.
