Outdoor Recreation and Open Gym Activities

The Wellness Center embraces all that our community, environment and natural surroundings have to offer. This pursuit hopes to enrich the emotional, environmental, occupational, spiritual, intellectual, social and physical well being of students, staff, faculty and the community at large. The Centers activities strive to focus on providing leadership, planning, opportunity, and education in pursuit of healthier lives.

There are some great activity options available to Students, Staff and Faculty.  Take advantage of these low or no cost opportunities made available by the Wellness Center and Student Programs.

Guided Friday Hikes on Cascade Mountain Trails

Basic information, topographical maps and compasses will be provided. Participants will meet at trailheads along the I-90 corridor for a great Friday afternoon workout and mental reboot. (Bring a flashlight or head lamp)

San Juan Island Bike Tour and Clambake

Participants will meet in Anacortes at the San Juan Island Ferry Terminal for a bike tour of the island, campout and smoked salmon pasta feast. Participants supply there own bike (rentals available for $35 on the island) sleeping bag, r/t ferry fee, and breakfast. Trip coordinators will take care of the support vehicle, clambake, campsite, tents, maps and guide. Come Friday for the overnight and Saturday bike tour or just Saturday for a day-trip around the island. Rental cabins are also available at Lakedale Resort. Maximum 10

  • Oct 9th-10th Depart San Juan Ferry:
    Anacortes 12:00 Noon Friday, Return to Anacortes ferry terminal 6:00 PM Saturday

Introduction to Tandem Sea Kayaking \ Stand-Up Paddle Boarding Lake Union, Northwest Outdoor Center

Tandem kayaks, life jackets, paddles, and maps provided on site. Students meet at NW Outdoor Center on Lake Union for 30 minute lesson and 2 hrs on the water. There will also be a chance to try your luck with stand-up paddle boards, the flat water surfer. Maximum 20

Introduction to Indoor Rock Climbing: Vertical World Redmond

Rock climbing is a great way to relieve stress, build muscle tone and improve self-efficacy. It’s also one of the statistically safest recreational activities available. Put life priorities in perspective by dangling from a 30’ cliff with a fellow BC student. All climbing equipment is provided and the workshop is FREE!!! Maximum 20

Friday Morning Open Gym

The BC gymnasium is open to all students, staff and faculty Friday mornings from 8:30-11:30am for pick-up basketball, volleyball, ping-pong, badminton and pickleball. Closing early on Oct 16 & Nov 6.

Puget Sound Blood Center Blood Mobile

Each day, the Puget Sound Blood Center must collect over 800 pints of blood for patients in regional hospitals. Achieving this goal is particularly challenging when patient usage is up. The need for blood is constant. Please consider donating blood. Bellevue College Courtyard
