Miss Coco Peru to perform at Bellevue College Sept. 30
BELLEVUE, WASH. -- Bellevue College’s Gay-Straight Alliance and LGBTQ student groups will present nationally-known screen, stage and television drag performer Miss Coco Peru in a one-person stage show at Bellevue College (BC) Sept. 30.
The event begins at 1 p.m. in BC’s Carlson Theatre, on the south courtyard of the college’s main campus.
The public is welcome to attend.
Miss Peru will perform the one-person show, “Ugly Coco,” a work of wry humor and song based on her life and observations.
Following the performance, Miss Peru will attend the 2:30 p.m. ribbon-cutting ceremonies at the college’s new LGBTQ Resource Center, room 225 in BC’s student union (Building C, adjacent to the campus’ central fountain.).
LGBTQ is a widely used acronym for “lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning.”
Miss Coco Peru (aka Clinton Leupp) has appeared on numerous television programs including Arrested Development and Will and Grace. Miss Peru also is featured in a half-hour comedy special on MTV’s LOGO channel, as part of the “Wisecrack” series.
On screen Miss Peru is best known for roles in Jim Fall's feature film, Trick, and Richard Day's Independent Film Channel feature-length comedy, Girls Will Be Girls, which has attracted a cult following. Miss Peru currently can be seen in a recreation of that role in Girls Will Be Girls online short films.
