Three BCC students receive state Vocational Excellence awards
BELLEVUE, WASH. - Three Bellevue Community College (BCC) students have received Washington Award for Vocational Excellence (WAVE) scholarships from the state Workforce Training and Education Coordinating Board.
WAVE Scholars from BCC and their respective areas of study are:
• Todd Merkley, Richland, Nuclear Medicine Technology
• Tracie Wells, of the Rainier View neighborhood of Seattle, Criminal Justice
• Tess McMillan, of Bellevue, .NET Programming and Web Development
The WAVE scholarship program was established by the state legislature in 1984 to recognize, reward and assist students who excel in career and technical education.
The Workforce Training and Education Coordinating Board (Workforce Board) administers the award each year.
Three WAVE recipients -- two from high schools and one from a community or technical college -- are chosen from each legislative district each year.
