Emergency message system now available to students and employees

Posted 10/01/07

BCC students and employees may now sign up to receive emergency alerts using the new BCC Alert System. BCC produced this new resource over the summer after much research and college-wide input over the spring and summer quarters. The highest priority with the new service was to provide a simple method for communicating quickly with the entire campus community in the event of campus emergency.

Since spring 2007, the college has reviewed emergency procedures and gathered input from many students and employees about how to best accomplish this. The new service is now packaged as a feature within the also newly redesigned, Public Safety website which also has some great new information focused on emergency preparedness.

How to start using the alert system

To activate your alerts, just sign in one time using your SID and PIN—that’s it! BCC will automatically set up your BCC e-mail to receive alerts during your first visit. You may also add other personal e-mail addresses or set up your mobile device/phone if it is equipped to receive text messages.

(Tip: A shortcut to the new alert system is also now available in MyBC eTools for all portal users!)

What You Get

As a subscriber to this service, you’ll receive an e-mail or text message alert any time the college closes unexpectedly, classes are delayed, or during any other emergency conditions that relate to your individual safety or the safety of the campus community. The alert system is used exclusively for “need to know information” and will not be used for any other form of communication.

BCC URL changes to www.bellevuecollege.edu

Posted 2/12/07

Starting this month, the college's official web address will change from www.bcc.ctc.edu to www.bellevuecollege.edu. One of the driving factors for BCC making this change is to provide a more user-friendly, intuitive and memorable address for people trying to locate the college on the Web.

Although the new URL is already being advertised to the public in several print publications, many departments may require several months to make this transition fully.  In the next few weeks, an automatic redirect from the previous URL will go into effect.

If you have established personal bookmarks to any BCC site containing www.bcc.ctc.edu, you may update this information to www.bellevuecollege.edu whenever it is convenient for you.
