RESEARCH PROJECT
Select one of the topics below and write a two to three page paper discussing the issue presented and answering the suggested questions. Your paper should be typed, include a title page, and a bibliography. A minimum of three sources are to be included in your bibliography: a web site, a book reference, and a journal/magazine article. Additional references are also acceptable.
Select one of the following topics:
1. Discuss the ethical issues involved in using human beings for medical experiments. When are they justified? When would they not be justified? Based on your research, what do you think about the issue?
(An alternative to this topic would be to discuss the issues of animal experiments, answering the same questions listed above.)
2. Discuss the pros and cons of the Electoral College. Provide a brief history of the Electoral
College and present it's advantages and disadvantages. Based on your research, what do you
think should be done about the future of the Electoral College?
3. Discuss the issues currently evolving around the 2000 Census. What are some of the
problems with the census methods? What are some of the new ideas being proposed?
Why is this such a hot topic? Based on your research, what do you think should be done about the 2000 Census? (Your references for this topic need to be different ones than those already given in class.
4. Select a topic of your choice related to Math 107. Your topic should be approved by your instructor.
