Article/website activity
In this activity, students will read an assigned article or view a particular website. Students will then practice their critical thinking skills by evaluating the content found in the resource. This activity addresses the following outcomes:

  1. Critically evaluate information
  2. Interpret/synthesize information
Journal activity
This activity must be done within the context of some type of research project. Done in stages, students are asked to write their thoughts about their research assignment at different stages during the process. This activity addresses the following outcomes:
  1. Define the information need
  2. Plan an effective search strategy
  3. Evaluate the process
Information scenarios
In this activity, students will practice determining what type of information is needed to answer different questions, and how they should go about answering those questions. This activity addresses the following outcomes:
  1. Define the information need
  2. Plan an effective search strategy
Library activity
In this activity, students will search for different types of library materials and then link the resources together in an annotated bibliography. This activity addresses the following outcomes:
  1. Locate and gather relevant resources
  2. Interpret/synthesize information
  3. Use and communicate information
Plagiarism activity
In this activity, students will read an excerpt from an original work. Four paragraphs paraphrasing the original are presented, and students must determine which are appropriate and which are plagiarism. This activity addresses the following outcomes:
  1. Use and communicate information
  2. Interpret/synthesize information
Bibliography activity
In this activity, students will build a better understanding of citation styles and also evaluate a collection of resources by looking at a bibliography. This activity addresses the following outcomes:
  1. Use and communicate information
  2. Evaluate the process
