Periodical Indexes Library Assignment
The purpose of this assignment is to give you practice in using the computer databases in the library to find articles in scientific journals. Use the appropriate computers in the BCC Library to find an article in a journal that our library carries or for which you can easily find a full text. The article must be from a current (within the last 5 years) scientific journal and be at least one page in length. Full text articles may be found in EBSCOhost and some newspaper indexes. Your topic will be the same one as your group project.

List several different terms you would use to search for information on this topic.
Give the reference for this article (author, title of article, journal name, date, volume, page numbers). Use the format in your packet.
Explain why this article would be useful for your research project.
Print a copy of the complete article. Write a one paragraph summary (also called an abstract) using a computer. Attach your typed abstract and copy of article to this handout.
Using the computerized book catalog, find a book concerning the same topic that is available at the BCC library. Using the format in the packet list the complete citation: author, date, title, edition, publisher, place of publication, number of pages.
