Request a Book
What can you do if another student has checked out a book that you need?
The BCC Library Media Center Online Catalog allows you to place a hold on a book. This means that as
soon as the book is returned to the library, a staff member will call you to let you know that the
book is available.
To Request a Book:
- Search the library catalog for the book you want to request.
[If you're not sure how to do this, click here.]
- Display the full catalog description for the item you want to request by clicking on the title of the item.
- In the toolbar at the top of the catalog screen, click on the "Request Item" button.
- Enter your student ID number (the same one you use to check out books in the library) and your last name.
- Click on the "Login" button.
- On the next screen, select "Hold" under "Please Choose the Type of Request".
- Click on the "OK" button.

The next screen displays the title of the book you have requested.
- If there is more than 1 copy of the book, click in the circle next to "Any Copy".
This will place a hold on the first copy of the book that is returned to the library.
- Enter your student ID number (the same one you use to check out books in the library).
- If you are placing a hold on a book, select "CIRCULATION DESK" next to
"Pick Up At:".
- If you won't need the book after a certain date, enter the number of days until that date next to
"Not Needed After".
- Click the "Submit Request"button.
