Before we start going through all of the resources available to you, it's a good idea to take a moment and really think about what you are looking for. Strategy and knowing what you are looking for will help you a great deal in any search for information. Unfortunately, many of us as very accustomed to going to Google and settling for what ever shows up in the results. That's not good strategy! Think about what information you need. If you are working on a case study for organization in health care management, you need to be specific. You can't really search for "health care management" and hope for the best. This applies even more so to researching medical pathology or instrumentation. The medical field has such robust vocabulary, and using that in your searching will lead to more precise and relevant results. |

Another part of the planning process is to think about the depth of information that you need, and which resource would provide that depth. The Library Media Center subscribes to e-books, which are great places to find background information on a topic or quick facts. Books aren't the place to find the latest information on new techniques in the field. For current innovation in the field as well as original research studies, look in periodical sources such as scholarly journals. |
