Online Learning Module for BAS Students

The library has created an online learning module especially for students in the BAS program. This module is web-based and utilizes short quick time movie tutorials to illustrate information literacy concepts and search technique. You can view the module at: http://bellevuecollege.edu/lmc/bas/

Electronic Resources

E-Anatomy
This digital atlas provides modules by anatomy or by imaging modality. This resource allows you to view images layer by layer, provides label to the different parts of anatomy viewed in the images and has many other special features. This is a fantastic resource!

Periodicals

You'll be using databases to find most periodical articles that you will need while studying in this program. Here are the databases that you'll want to use:

MedLine through EBSCOhost
"MEDLINE provides authoritative medical information on medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, the health care system, pre-clinical sciences, and much more. Created by the National Library of Medicine, MEDLINE uses MeSH (Medical Subject Headings) indexing with tree, tree hierarchy, subheadings and explosion capabilities to search citations from over 4,800 current biomedical journals."

CINAHL through EBSCOhost
CINAHL is the "most comprehensive source of full text for nursing & allied health journals, providing full text for more than 750 journals."

Science Direct
ScienceDirect provides access to some books and periodicals published by Elsevier. Look for the Full Text Icon icon next to items that have full text availability to BC students, faculty and staff.

Print Periodicals
BC subscribes to a number of periodicals that contain information related to the fields of Radiation and Imaging. Some titles are available in print, others also offer online access. Click to view the list of periodicals.

Book Resources

Bellevue College has purchased many books to support the curriculum of the radiation and imaging program. As our collection is always changing, the best way to locate book resources is by searching the library catalog. You can do an "All Fields" search for any topic. This is a keyword search and is the most basic and generic way to search. For more precise searching, search by subject headings. Subject headings use a controlled vocabulary, so that all books on the same topic are described the same way.

Here are some subject headings that are relevant to your studies in the BAS program:
Diagnostic Imaging Medical Care Nuclear Medicine
Health Care Reform Medical Economics Radiography, Medical
Health Facilities Medical Errors Radioisotope Scanning
Health Insurance Medical Ethics Radiotherapy
Health Risk Assessment Medical Laws & Legislation Tomography
Health Services Administration Medical Physics Tomography, emission
Managed Care Plans Medical Records Transcultural Medical Care

NetLibrary
NetLibrary is a collection of eBooks. BC's collection primarily consists of eBooks on health care, health care management, bioethics, and cultural studies.

Gale Virtual Reference Library
The Gale Virtual Reference Library contains several medical reference books such as The Gale Encyclopedia of Cancer and The Gale Encyclopedia of Nursing and Allied Health which can provide comprehensive background information on medical issues related to your studies.

Video/Media Resources

The Library Media Center has a number of videos/DVDs on imaging sciences in the Media Center. To locate these resources, search the library catalog. All of the videos can be found be searching Echocardiography or Ultrasound in "All Fields." Make sure you change the "Limit To" from "All Material" to "Videos/DVDs".
