Once you have written the citations for all the resources you used to gather information, you need to put them together into your Works Cited list.

The Works Cited list is simply an alphabetical listing of citations. Here are a couple of things to keep in mind:
  • Your entries should be alphabetized by the first element in the citation (usually the author's last name).

  • Do not group all books together, all websites together, etc. in your Works Cited list!

  • Double space within and between entries.

  • Make sure that you indent after the first line in each citation.

  • Do not number the citations in the Works Cited list.

  • If you citation begins with A, An, or The, include this in the citation but don't alphabetize by these words.

For example: if you are citing an article in a newspaper (without an author) with the title "The War in the Pacific," you would alphabetize this article as if the title started with "War."
