The BC Library has made arrangements with the Health Sciences Library at the University of Washington in order to expand the materials available to you.

A group orientation to the Health Sciences Library for the BC Baccalaureate students can be arranged. BC Library can make arrangements.

Students may use print materials on site. If you would like to check out materials from the Health Sciences Library, you would need to get a borrower's card. Borrower's cards are available for a fee of $100.00 for one year per student. This will enable students to borrow print materials only. The $100.00 will be collected by the Friends of the Library. (Photocopying is available at the Health Sciences Library for 15 cents per page, which may lessen the need to take items home.)

If you find an item at the University of Washington's Health Sciences library that you would like to borrow but do not want to pay $100 for a borrower's card, talk to a BC librarian about the possibility of getting the item through interlibrary loan. Please note that interlibrary loan can take some time (up to two weeks) and not every item is available.

UW strictly limits their access to online databases. Access to online databases is limited to on-site use only at the Health Sciences Library. To use databases while in the Health Sciences library, you will need to present a photo ID (e.g. driver's license or BC ID card) in order to get a temporary net ID that will be used to access the online databases at the Health Sciences Library. There is no access to online databases outside the Health Sciences Library. (Printing from online access will cost 10 cents per page, but most databases will allow you to email items to yourself, saving you from needing to print.)
