Images from the Web

When citing an image that you find on the web, include the artist's name, year the artwork was created, title of the work and medium, and the web address of where you found the image. Here's a citation for an image of the Library of Congress:



Here's another example, with a photo from the photo sharing service, Flickr. I don't have the exact name for the photographer, just the screen name "SusanCK." I'll use the screen name in the citation.

 

For some images on the web, there is no identified artist/photographer and at times the artwork is not named. If you wish to cite an unnamed image, in square brackets write: [Untitled photograph of ...]. Here's a citation for an untitled photo of the British Library, with no named photographer.

Images from ArtStor Database

Bellevue College subscribed to the image database ArtStor. To cite an image from this database, include the artist name, year the work was created, title of the work and medium and the web address for ArtStor. You'll notice that these examples are very similar to the examples above.
