A little more about the show...
The three "flavors" of The Old Country:
1. DJ shows - These shows offer hosting opportunities for non-musician community members. You don't have to play an instrument, and you don't necessarily have to be an "expert" on your genre of choice. Rather, you simply have to have a passion and deep interest in the material you're presenting. To host a DJ version of The Old Country, download and read through the script guidelines posted above, then contact me with your idea for a show.
2. Studio sessions - KBCS and The Old Country have in the past worked in partnership with various recording studios to bring musicians in and record their work. These can be solo performances as well as that of larger ensembles. Currently, KBCS is building a new partnership with Jack Straw Studios in Seattle to continue producing these types of Old Country episodes.
3. Community concerts - The Old Country frequently goes out into the community and records concerts as they take place. We've been on hand to record everything from an evening of raucous Balkan music to Hassidic folk-rock. If you or your group is performing live around town, and you'd like the concert to be considered for later airing on The Old Country, call or email me.
