DEPARTMENT SUMMARY:

The Health Sciences, Education and Wellness Institute (HSEWI) encompasses programs of great breadth and diversity, including a bachelor’s degree program in Radiation and Imaging Sciences and associates degrees and certificate programs in Alcohol & Drug Studies, Diagnostic Ultrasound, Early Childhood Education, Fire Sciences, Fitness Center, Health Professions, Nuclear Medicine Technology, Nursing, Nursing Continuing Education, Parent Education/Early Learning, Physical Education, Radiation Therapy, and Radiologic Technology.  We seek a visionary leader who embraces BC’s culture of commitment to students, technological innovation and pluralism.

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Executive Dean of Instruction, the Executive Director is the administrator providing strategic instructional leadership that supports the HSEWI’s goals and strategic plan. The Institute Director plans, implements, coordinates and evaluates the HSEWI programs and services to ensure that the educational needs of students and the community are satisfied.

 

The Executive Director is a key contributor to policy formulation, strategic planning, and budget development, and a member of the college’s instructional team responsible for implementing the shared vision and direction of professional programs and instructional delivery. These responsibilities include strategic planning, assessment, accreditation, program development, instructional technologies, budget management and the recruitment, development, support and evaluation of faculty.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree
  • Three to five years' administration experience with progressively increasing responsibility.
  • Demonstrated experience with budgetary processes and financial statements.

  • Demonstrated experience with managing complex and diverse organizational units with competing needs.
  • Demonstrated excellent management, interpersonal, communication and problem-solving talent, combined with a collaborative work style.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret complex program and administrative policies.
  • Demonstrated ability to relate to students, staff and faculty of varied ethnicity, ages, backgrounds and abilities and a commitment to a culturally diverse environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collegial environment.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Provides effective leadership of the HSEWI.
  • Establishes and maintains an effective and efficient delivery system of instructional services in response to the needs of the community, the requirements of the state, and the college's accrediting association. 
  • Participates in the enrollment management process by planning and producing an annual schedule of HSEWI classes which meet the education needs of students within assigned budget and staffing parameters, including compliance with the state's allocation of funds, student quotas and monitoring of expenditures and enrollment.
  • Ensures high quality instructional programs for student learning and its assessment by establishing standards and processes for program planning, review, assessment, evaluation and modification in cooperation with other administrative staff.
  • Leads efforts for the effective recruitment, selection, retention, development, and evaluation of HSEWI faculty for the purpose of improving instruction.
  • Oversees the tenure process for HSEWI tenure track faculty.
  • Ensures an effective and capable administrative staff for the Institute by appropriate selection, training, development, evaluation, and motivation.
  • Develops, monitors, and administers the HSEWI budget in conjunction with the college-wide planning process and with the assistance of program chairs and directors.
  • Promotes and maintains diversity and pluralism in the HSEWI workforce and in its curricular offerings. 
  • Serves on committees and task forces and performs other related duties as assigned. 
  • Oversees development new courses and new programs in the fields of health, education, and wellness, in response to community and workforce needs
  • Establishes and maintains effective partnerships with community organizations that are involved with and/or impact HSEWI programs and offerings.

 

SALARY

The salary range is $77,701 - $93,241 with placement based on education and related experience.
