Earning Internship Credit

Interns are supervised by the BCC Internship Coordinator (Laura McCray, lmccray@bellevuecollege.edu) and by a Faculty Mentor. The Faculty Mentor acts as a resource for the student during his/her internship, answering industry-specific questions or just giving general advice. During the internship, the student is required to complete three assignments, meet with the Internship Coordinator at least twice, and meet with their Faculty Mentor at least three times. They receive 2-5 credits for the internship course, depending on the total number of hours they work. The name of the class is Academic Internship Experience, EXPRL (Experiential Learning) 191. Please see the syllabus (below) for further details on assignments, requirements, and grading.

Students are encouraged to find their own Faculty Mentor, and they are expected to initiate and schedule the meetings with their mentor. The Academic Internship Program offers Faculty Mentors a small stipend to compensate them for their time and effort.
