Healthcare Informatics

 

Healthcare Informatics is the digital backbone of patient care. Hospitals, clinics, physician practices and in home patient care all increasingly rely on electronic medical records and information retrieval.  A broad range of employment opportunities exists in this rapidly changing sector. The Bellevue College Healthcare Informatics Certificate prepares learners with IT experience to seek employment in this area.

The six month, 18-credit program presents learners with a critical mass of knowledge about hospital organization, business practices & culture; adoption of the electronic medical record, including hands on experience; how data moves across a medical center; patient safety and security issues, technical infrastructure, standards and interoperability.

Coursework is completed online; learners and instructors meet twice quarterly on campus.
