STEPS TO ENROLL IN RUNNING START

INFO SESSIONS: Attend one of the Running Start Information Sessions (strongly recommended). Parents are encouraged to attend with their student and no prior registration is required:


Dates offered: Mon, Feb 22 at 7:00pm, Thurs, Feb 25 at 7:00pm, Tues, March 2 at 7:00pm and Thurs, March 4 at 7:00pm, Wed, March 10 at 7:00pm, Thurs, March 11 at 7:00pm.These sessions will be held in N-201 on the south end of campus- Park in adjacent lot.  There will be sessions held Saturday, March 20 at 9:30am OR 11:30am in the Theater,  building E located on south end of campus. STEP 1:

An application must be on file with our office for you to take the required assessment. Submit the attached Running Start Application to our office in B233 (above the book store) by the following date:

  • Priority Deadline*: submit by Monday, March 22, 2010.
    *students applying on this date will get first choice of classes and receive Running Start information at their assessment session. 
  • Late Deadline*: all applications must be received by Friday, July 9, 2010.
    *students applying late will register late and have the risk of classes being full. 

*Note: We do not recommend mailing applications. Applications must be received by date listed below. Your BC ID# number will be emailed to you once your application has been processed.

STEP 2:

Late Applicants:  You must register directly with the assessment office beginning July 12th. The testing fee is $19.70. Refer to the assessment calendar for days and times the assessment office is open for testing.

STEP 3:

Take Assessment Test on your selected date and time in Room B132 Mark the time and date on the calendar.

  • Bring picture ID to your assessment test session.  You will not be allowed to test without it.
  • Bring your assigned BC Student ID Number that was emailed to you by the HS Programs staff upon processing your RS application.
  • DO NOT come late or you will forfeit your seat.  Arrive at least 15 minutes early to B132 for your assessment test session.

STEP 4:

IF YOU ASSESSED INTO ENGLISH 101 submit the Running Start Responsibility Agreement Form (this form is given to you after your assessment).  You may also go to our website to print one or come by our office to pick one up.
Attach your Goal Questionnaire to this form and submit to the Running Start Office (not your high school) by:

  • Late Applicants:                  Monday, July 26, 2010

 

Please Note:  Mailing goes out to eligible priority and late applicants approximately two weeks following the above Agreement Form deadline. It will include an orientation date and time, the High School Referral Form, and Fall Credit Class Schedule.  Orientation and registration will occur in June for priority students and the second week of September for late students.

STEP 5:

Make an appointment with your high school counselor to obtain a list of graduation requirements, plan your class schedule and have the High School Referral Form signed by them.
*Late applicants must wait for their high school counselor to return from summer vacation to complete this step.

STEP 6:

Attend Pre-Registration Orientation on assigned date and time as stated in the letter we send you.
Bring with you:
Signed and completed High School Referral Form AND Fall Credit Class Schedule.
*Late applicants will attend their Pre-Registration Orientation the second week of September.
