Two department certificate programs are also available for students interested in pursuing a career in exercise science, sports medicine, fitness training, physical education or adventure education. The certificates may be completed independently or as part of a two-year AAS transfer degree in preparation for a four-year BA program.

Wilderness Skills Certificate

photos from outdoor activitiesThe 18-credit Wilderness Skills Certificate may be completed independently in as little as six-months, or as part of an Associate in Arts and Sciences Transfer degree in two years. The certificate prepares students for a wide range of careers in Adventure Education including elementary/secondary schools, camps, community centers, corporate recreation programs or state parks.

Personal Fitness Trainer Certificate

trainer working with studentsThe 19-credit Personal Fitness Trainer Certificate may be completed independently in two quarters, or as part of a two-year Associate in Arts and Sciences Transfer degree program. This certificate prepares students for a career as a Personal Fitness Trainer while providing a solid background for a career in exercise science, sports medicine, physical education instruction, or as a fitness club manager.
