About Parent Education

A positive relationship with your child is your greatest achievement. Parents face tremendous challenges and dilemmas while raising a child. Bellevue College Parent Education classes are designed to meet the needs of today's families. Our classes provide a shared learning experience for parents and those who work with children. Skilled college faculty teach these classes and also serve as a resource for individual parent's concerns.  Along with the parenting class are children’s programs  that provide active learning experiences for parents and children supporting the development of creativity, literacy, math, science, physical ability and social skills in young children. The classes each focus on one of several distinct age levels, ranging from infant through seven years of age, with curriculum designed specifically for each stage of development Bellevue College's Parent Education program offers classes for parents and children set in a fun, nurturing environment located in the cities of Snoqualmie, Carnation, Sammamish, Issaquah, Bellevue, Renton and Mercer Island and Online.

“The first few years of life lay the foundation for just about everything in a person’s life, from academic ability, to creativity, to physical skills and sociability,” said Lisa Allen, Interim Director of Bellevue College's Parent Education Program. “In all of our classes, we offer active learning experiences for young children and their parents, plus training in techniques parents can use to improve their relationship with their children. It’s fun because parents and children play and learn together.”
