Talk with an advisor.
Can I take courses without being admitted to the program?
Yes, students who have not been admitted to the program can register for any course on a space-available basis, if they have appropriate prerequisites. To find out if you qualify to take a course and receive an entry code, contact the program manager Kimberly Hassell at: 425-564-3188 or kimberly.hassell@bellevuecollege.edu.
Can I complete this program online?
Yes, students who are unable to attend classes on campus may complete this program through a combination of online and distance-based courses.
I do not live in Washington State. Can I still take these courses?
It depends on which state you live in. Before offering distance education classes in other states, all institutions of higher education must obtain authorization from those states to offer classes to their residents. At this time, due to extraordinarily high costs to obtain authorization, and/or other limiting factors, we regret that Bellevue College cannot offer distance education classes to students who live in Alabama, Arkansas, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, and Texas.
Can I reapply next year if I am not accepted into the program?
Yes. You will receive a letter advising you of additional courses you need to take or other ways to strengthen your application for the next time you apply. The application fee will be waived for individuals who reapply for the following year.
What if I have relevant experience that I think is equivalent to some courses?
For certain courses, you may be able to earn credit for prior learning or work experiences through successful completion of a challenge exam, or by proving that you have met course learning outcomes. Contact the program manager to discuss available options.
Is there a required sequence of courses I should take?
Yes. You will be able to build on your body of knowledge if certain courses are taken before others. Your sequence of courses will vary depending on whether you attend full-time or part-time, and on your previous education. Your program advisor will help you develop a program of study to gain the most benefit from each course.
How long will it take me to finish?
After admission, the BAS degree totals 90-95 credits and can be completed in 7 quarters of mostly full-time attendance, typically three courses each quarter. Individual pacing is possible, but students should plan on taking at least one course each quarter so that the material remains current and relevant.
Is the program accredited?
The Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU), a regional institutional accrediting body recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation and the U.S. Department of Education, has granted Bellevue College accreditation at the baccalaureate level.
