These workshops support faculty teaching online or hybrid courses and are open to all BCC faculty
and staff. Workshops incorporate what research is showing us about BCC students, models of
curriculum design that have worked for BCC instructors and how to get started with online teaching
tools like VISTA and WebCT. [More Information]
Technical Training supports faculty and staff using computer software officially adopted by the BCC
campus. You can find workshops here on everything from how to use Word to how to access and use
the Degree Audit program or MyBCC. [More Information]
The BCC Teaching Institute is a learning community made up
of new and returning faculty interested in exploring questions
related to the scholarship of teaching. Invitations to participate
in this institute are sent out via BCC email each spring.
The institute begins mid-August of each year with a three-week
online course focused on exploring motivations for teaching.
Two face-to-face days scheduled around opening week give faculty
opportunity to experience teaching demonstrations, active
learning techniques and indulge in further discussions about
teaching. For more information, contact Maggie Harada (mharada@bcc.ctc.edu),
Asha nelson (anelson@bcc.ctc.edu)
or Ron Leatherbarrow (rleather@bcc.ctc.edu)

The NSF Funded Washington Center for Information Technology
(WCIT) is housed here at BCC and can be used to support IT
faculty working on skill standards aligned curriculum or seeking
certification to teach in the community and technical colleges.
The WCIT cycle begins each Spring, but faculty can work through
the WCIT toolkit one-on-one with a curriculum design consultant.
