Getting Started Teaching Online
A new online faculty member is anyone new to teaching a specific set of course content online or anyone new to teaching in one of our online course environments.
- Contact Dr.Richard Rose in the Faculty Resource Center
as soon as you find out you’ll be teaching online.
Call 425.564.4212 or email rrose@bcc.ctc.edu.
With Richard you will:
- Ensure you have the appropriate server space and content plan.
- Complete a training needs assessment and get started with online training resources and workshops.
- Subscribe to VISTAFACULTY
- Learn about FRC support services
- Sign up for the mentor program, if appropriate
- If you are NOT teaching for Distance Education, you will need to notify your division secretary of your intent to teach with VISTA so she can code your course in the HP and allow your students be exported to the VISTA server.
- Get TRAINED on the platform you will use. You will have received an overview of training options and been subscribed to the online training resources when you met with Richard in step 1.
Make sure that ALL of the points above have been completed before the end of the quarter before you wish to teach.
