Starting Fall 2004, no courses will be available to students on the WebCT server. All courses will need to be offered via the VISTA server. You are responsible for working with the Faculty Resource Center to ensure that your courses will be available on the VISTA server. Please read more about this important move. [More Information] If you are using VISTA for the first time, creating a new course site for an online or face-to-face course, or simply interested in what it might take to start teaching with online resources, you should read our start up information. The Faculty Resource Center employs
a team of student graphic and web designers in order to support
faculty teaching in online environments. If you have a course
site, a multimedia project idea, graphic design or other website
development work you would like to see accomplished, come
talk with us. We can have most projects defined before the
end of week 2, the quarter before you wish to teach. [More

This guide illustrates common practices BCC faculty use to support their students in online environments. Faculty members using these guidelines have reported that the number of logistical questions they field from students has greatly declined. The 'VID' or the Virtual Instructional
Designer is a set of curriculum design resources for faculty
teaching with online technologies. The site was developed
by Indiana State University (ISU), Ivy Tech State College
(Ivy Tech) and Vincennes University (VU) with a 3-year LAAP
grant from 1999 to 2002. Over 12 curriculum designers
collaborated on researching and organizing the materials made
available here. It is truly a wonderful resource! [http://www.thevid.org]

It is common at Bellevue Community College to have instructors teach online courses that were developed by another BCC faculty member. Deciding who is responsible for what in such an arrangement is a department decision. We have worked with faculty to develop this set of role definitions that you and/or your department may find useful. A special thanks to Rhonda Gilliam for her work on this. [More Information]
