The Bellevue College Foundation is pleased to offer the following scholarships. Not all scholarships are offered each opening. Openings are in the Spring and Fall quarters. Specific eligibility criteria are listed for each scholarship, and additional materials (such as two letters of recommendation, unofficial transcripts and a sampling of awards and certificates) are required.

Foundation Scholarships (300)
Individuals interested in applying for Foundation General Scholarships must have a minimum GPA of 2.0 at the time of application, maintain this GPA throughout the three quarters they receive scholarship assistance and demonstrate financial need at the time of application. Applicants must be enrolled in full or part-time credit courses (3 credits or more) fall quarter 2010.
The Mike Humphries and Judith Ralston Scholarship for a Better Community (3xx)
Students interested in applying for the Mike Humphries and Judith Ralston Scholarship for a Better Community should be over the age of 20, work more than 25 hours annually as a volunteer and be currently engaged in volunteer work. Applicants must also be able to demonstrate financial need and have GPA of at least 2.5, which must be increasing as the student shows greater seriousness and capacity. Along with the general application, applicants must complete a personal essay of no more than 500 words outlining their beliefs in the importance of volunteerism, what their past experience with volunteering has taught them, and how they plan to continue helping their community through volunteering. One recipient will be awarded up to $1,000 to use for tuition, books, and fees.
Carol Taylor Scholarship for Nursing Excellence (3xx)
Students interested in applying for the Carol Taylor Scholarship for Nursing Excellence must be a full-time student enrolled in the Nursing program at BC, have a GPA of at least 3.0, and can demonstrate financial need. In addition to the Foundation Application, the applicant must complete a statement of not more than 300 words describing what inspired them to enter into the nursing profession. One award of $1,000 will be granted to a student to use for tuition, fees and books.
Bergstrom Family Scholarship Fund (311)
Students interested in applying for the Bergstrom Family Scholarship must either be enrolled in the Early Learning and Teacher Education program (formerly the Early Childhood Education program) OR be a graduate of Lake Stevens High School or Foster High School. Up to three recipients will be awarded annually up to $1,500 to use for tuition, fees and books at BC.
The Boeing Company Scholarships (312)
Students interested in applying for The Boeing Company Scholarship must be a full-time student, demonstrate financial need and be enrolled at Bellevue Community College in one of the following disciplines: Business Management, Engineering Technology, or Information Technology. Applicants must be a citizen of the United States or have filed for citizenship. Students who are members of diverse populations are encouraged to apply. Each recipient will be awarded up to $1,500 to use for tuition, books, and fees.
Peterson Health Care Scholarship Fund (320)
Students interested in applying for the Peterson Health Care Scholarship must be a full-time student enrolled in one of BC’s Allied Health Care programs, have a minimum GPA of 3.0, and demonstrate financial need. One recipient will be awarded $1,000 to use for tuition, fees and books at BC.
Radiation Therapy-Distant Learning Scholarship (324)
Students interested in applying for the Radiation Therapy-Distant Learning Scholarship must be enrolled in a Radiation Therapy program at BC, have a summer internship scheduled at a distant learning facility and demonstrate financial need.
Radiation Technology Student Assistant Program at Swedish Medical Center (325)
Students interested in applying for the Swedish Medical Center Radiation Technology Student Assistant Loan Program must be enrolled in the Radiology Technologist Program at BC, maintain an overall GPA of 2.5 (applies to prerequisites as well) and maintain a GPA of 3.0 or above in core radiology courses. As part of this scholarship, students agree to remain employed as a Radiology Technologist at Swedish Medical Center for a period of at least two (2) years. If the recipient of this scholarship does not complete the Radiology Tech Program or becomes ineligible for the scholarship or terminates employment with Swedish Medical Center before required term, the recipient will repay Swedish Medical Center the full amount of the financial assistance provided.
Hoffman Math Scholarship (326)
Students interested in applying for the Hoffman Math Scholarship must be planning on an educational degree that emphasizes math, physics, chemistry or engineering. Applicants must have completed 30 college level credits, have a GPA of 3.0 or above and have completed at least 10 credits in math including Math 125 and Calculus II. Preference will be given to students planning a career in math/science and students who have experience tutoring. Along with the general application, the applicant must also complete a one-page statement that discusses his or her goals and objectives for higher education, accomplishments to date and anticipated financial need, if any, in achieving these goals. The applicant must also submit an Educational Advising Plan Worksheet detailing current classes, plus those planned for the next academic school year and two letters of recommendation from members of the math or science faculty at BC.
Habib Mathematics Scholarship Fund (329)
Students interested in applying for the Habib Mathematics Scholarship Fund must be a female student planning on an educational degree that emphasizes math, physics, chemistry or engineering. Applicants must have completed 30 college level credits, have a GPA of 3.0 or above and have completed at least 10 credits in math including Math 125 and Calculus II. Preference will be given to students planning a career in math/science and students who have experience tutoring. Ginkgo Foundation Scholarship for Single Mothers in Health Care (334)
Students interested in applying for the Ginkgo Foundation Scholarship for Single Mothers in Health Care must be enrolled in either the Nursing, Diagnostic Ultrasound, Radiologic Technology, Radiation Therapy, Nuclear Medicine Technology programs, maintain a GPA of at least 3.0, be a single mother, within one year of graduation, completed 45 college credits and demonstrate financial need. A personal statement of no more than 300 words addressing personal, professional and educational goals is required along with an official transcript and a letter of recommendation. Evaluations will be based on the overall application, essay, activities, need and extenuating circumstances.
CD Scholarship Funds (313)
Individuals interested in applying for the CD Scholarship must have a minimum GPA of 2.0 at the time of application, maintain this GPA throughout the three quarters they receive scholarship assistance and demonstrate financial need at the time of application. Applicants must be enrolled in full or part-time credit courses (3 credits or more) fall quarter 2010.
Ginkgo Foundation Scholarship for Low Income Students (334)
Students interested in applying for the Ginkgo Foundation Scholarship for Low Income Students must be a low income student that is a first generation college student, a displaced homemaker or a student with a documented disability, maintain a GPA of at least 3.0, and demonstrate financial need. A personal statement of no more than 300 words addressing personal, professional and educational goals is required along with an official transcript and a letter of recommendation. Evaluations will be based on the overall application, essay, activities, need and extenuating circumstances.
Green Family Nursing Scholarship (338)
Students interested in applying for the Green Family Nursing Scholarship must be a full-time, second year student enrolled in the BC Nursing program. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Preference is given to students who can demonstrate that they are a nurse of knowledge and compassion and have overcome some type of hardship in their life. Applications will be reviewed by three nursing faculty members who will forward the names of the top three finalists to the Foundation’s Scholarship Committee for consideration. Two recipients will be awarded $1,500 each to use for tuition, fees and books at BC.
Sandusky Radio Scholarship (387)
Students interested in applying for the Sandusky Radio Scholarship must be enrolled in BC’s Radio Broadcasting program, demonstrate financial need and be a full-time student. Selection of recipients will be based on achievements, financial need, a personal statement and two letters of recommendation.
MGC/Seattle Times Endowment (403)
Students interested in applying for the Seattle Times IT Scholarship must be a full or part-time student. Applicants must be a student of color, a member of an underrepresented population in IT, or have a physical, learning, or other difference that creates a barrier to their full participation in the IT program at BC. Applicants must be pursuing a career in IT, must qualify for financial aid, and demonstrate financial need beyond the FA award. Applicants must also have established GPAs of at least 2.5, be residents of Washington State and have completed at least 15 credit hours at BC.
Art Erschler Basketball Scholarship (Athletics) (405)
Students interested in applying for the Art Erschler Basketball Scholarship must have participated in, and completed one full season of intercollegiate basketball and have accumulated at least thirty hours of college credit. One award of $1,000 will be granted to a student to use for tuition, fees and books. The applicant must also submit two letters of recommendation from non-family members supporting the nomination in addition to the Foundation Scholarship Application.
Courter Family Interior Design Scholarships and Internship (406)
Students interested in applying for the Courter Family Interior Design Scholarship and Internship must be enrolled in the Interior Design program at BC and maintain a minimum GPA of at least a 2.8. Preference will be given to those who have completed 70 or more credits toward their degree. Finalists must be willing to participate in a formal interview and, if selected, serve as a paid intern for the Courter Design Group. The Courter Design Group is a six-year-old interior design consulting company that performs jobs associated with the overall formulation and design of interior (and some exterior) residential spaces. An intern with Courter Design Group would be actively involved in all areas of a small interior design firm and will assist with many design and facility/real estate management projects. The recipient will be awarded up to $1,200 to their student account to use for tuition, books and fees and will be paid for the duration of their internship. The applicant must also complete a statement, in addition to the Foundation Application, of not more than 300 words addressing information regarding scholastic and non-scholastic accomplishments, educational and professional goals and objectives, and any other special circumstances, or qualifications.
Vasantha Daniel Nursing Scholarship (408)
Vasantha Daniel is a former faculty member of Bellevue Community College’s nursing program and continues to remain involved in the community at BC. Students interested in applying for the Vasantha Daniel Nursing Scholarship must be a freshman or sophomore nursing student, have a GPA of at least 3.0 and have completed the first two quarters of their respective year in the nursing program by the end of Winter quarter. This scholarship is awarded to (1) freshman and (1) sophomore nursing students for the amount of $500 to assist with tuition, books and fees. To apply for this scholarship, students must get the application form from Nursing Program faculty members.
Nancy Bean Costco IT Scholarship (412)
Students interested in applying for the Nancy Bean Costco IT Scholarship must be currently enrolled in an approved IT program at BC, be a single parent and demonstrate financial need. The recipients will be awarded an amount dependent on financial need, of up to $3,000 to their student account to use for tuition, books, and fees.
Group Health Employee Scholarship (432)
Students interested in applying for the Group Health Employee Scholarship must be employees of Group Health, enrolled in an Allied Health Science Program at BC, demonstrate financial need, and have an established GPA of 2.8 or higher Preference will be given to students of diverse backgrounds. Each recipient will be awarded up to $1,000, depending on need, for tuition, fees and books. Along with the general application, applicants must submit a copy of completed financial aid forms, a copy of official transcripts, and include two letters of recommendation from non-family members supporting their nomination as well as a written statement of not more than 300 words that demonstrates the applicant's dedication to pluralism and diversity.
BECU Scholarship for Advancing Student Success (xxx)
BECU is the state’s largest credit union that anyone in Washington can join. Likewise, BECU believes that everyone deserves the chance to earn a college education. The Bellevue Community College Foundation is pleased to announce the BECU Scholarship for Advancing Student Success. Students interested in applying for this scholarship must be enrolled at BC, a member of BECU, and intend to pursue a career in Washington State. Students must also have a GPA of 2.0 or higher and be able to demonstrate financial need. In addition to the Foundation Scholarship Application, the applicant must also submit a personal statement of not more than 300 words addressing personal, professional and educational goals. Proof of BECU membership is also required as part of the application package. Five recipients will be awarded $1,000 to use for tuition, fees and books at BC. Scholarship recipients must be willing to meet with a BECU representative.
