| Eligibility for Summer Aid
In order for students to receive summer aid by the time quarter starts, students must have:
The priority processing deadline is mid-April of each year; see our Information Sheet for the exact day. See Forms for our summer application. Impact of Summer Aid Students who receive a Pell Grant in summer reduce the amount of dollars available to them in future quarters of the same award year. If you plan on attending summer quarter full-time and subsequent quarters full-time, you can only receive Pell funds at full time for three quarters a year during the award year. Student loans have maximum amounts that can be disbursed to students during the course of the award year. Taking a student loan during the summer quarter may reduce the amounts you will receive during subsequent quarters of attendance. Late Applicants Students who are attending summer school, but did not complete the financial aid requirements in time to receive their aid before the quarter starts, can pay for the quarter on their own. If you are eligible for aid, you can receive your funds after the quarter has started. Required Items Your Student Aid Report (SAR) will inform you of any issues such as: questionable or incorrect information, missing information, or perhaps an activity you may need to perform such as registering for the Selective Service. Read your SAR carefully. You will know before we do if information is missing. Read about the eligibility requirements to help you in determining if you are eligible. Verification All Verification items must be turned into this office by the priority processing deadline if you want your summer aid to be ready for summer quarter. See our Information Sheet for the priority processing deadline. Stafford Loan Funds If you want a Stafford loan for summer, please be sure you turn in the Loan Request form; otherwise we will not know that you want a loan. Students who have already signed a Master Promissory Note (MPN) for attendance at BCC will not need to sign a new note. Summer Crossover Period Summer is a difficult award period for most financial aid offices. The BCC financial aid office awards summer on a case-by-case basis for each student that wishes to attend. We try to award summer funds based on the best interests of you, the student; please apply early to allow us ample time to determine the best funding for your situation.
