Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)

Federal and state regulations require that students receiving federal and state financial aid meet certain academic standards. Institutions of higher education are allowed to establish their own polices to meet this regulation. Polices at each institution can be different, f you are transferring into BCC or transferring from BCC to a university review the college's or university's policy in the event that it is different. Following is a brief summary of BCC's Satisfactory Academic Progress policy, for more information we recommend reading the complete policy, you can find it under the Forms menu item on the Financial Aid website.

The SAP Policy in Brief

  • Maintain a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.0
  • Complete all the credits registered for or within the credit range
  • Maintain a minimum 75% completion rate
  • Complete your program of study within 125% of your program requirements (credits)

Regaining Eligibility for Financial Aid

If you have lost your financial aid eligibility you may be able to regain it by filing an Appeal for Financial Aid Reinstatement form.

Follow the directions on the form carefully; appeals submitted to this office without the appropriate documentation are automatically denied.

Repayments

If you owe a repayment to institutional, federal, or state funds filing an Appeal for Financial Aid Reinstatement will not remove the repayment.
