Self-Help Funding

For financial aid purposes scholarships are considered self-help funds and are counted as a financial resource.

Pay for a Scholarship Search

Many sites are available to assist you in a scholarship search. We would recommend that you not pay anyone to assist you in this search. Hiring someone to search and apply for you is not a guarantee that you will win a scholarship.

Transfer Students

Transfer students please be aware as you apply to universities that some financial aid offices will award you a scholarship, if you apply for aid there; the university may award a scholarship without you having to perform a search. In order to receive a scholarship like this you would want your financial aid application to arrive before any deadlines, and likely your admissions application too. Confirm with the schools you are applying to.
