Private Educational Loans |
|
|
As a last alternative (and we recommend only after you have applied for federal financial aid i.e. the FAFSA), you may want to consider a private loan. The benefits of receiving a degree may out weight the risks and costs of taking out a private loan. Most banks and credit unions offer educational loans; we recommend contacting several banks and/or credit unions to find the most competitive rates and benefits which best meet your needs. Private loans cost more than the loans available from the Federal government under the Stafford loan program; BCC does participate in the Stafford program. If you are going to borrow money, the Stafford loan program is the best place to start. Research has shown that individuals who receive degrees earn, over the span of their working years, earn substantially more than those who do not have a degree.
