Course Prerequisites
If you have taken courses from another regionally
accredited institution, you may have satisfied the prerequisite
requirements for some courses or programs at BCC. Here are
some guidelines and tools for you to find out if you have
met the prerequisites for course placement or program requirements.
English and Math Prerequisites
To show that you have met the English and/or Math prerequisites
based on your previous coursework, bring a copy of your transcript
or report card (see requirements below) to the Assessment
Office, Room B132. Course placement will be granted upon
verification of course equivalency and fulfillment of the
minimum grade requirement.
If your English and Math coursework were taken at one of
the colleges or universities in Washington State, you can
find out BCC equivalent courses in the following English and
Math equivalency table:

and Math Equivalency Table (PDF)
Additional Course Prerequisites
To receive placement into courses which have a prerequisite
that is not English or Math, bring a copy of your transcript
or report card (see requirements below) to the respective
department or
division. For example: contact the Biology Department
or Science Division for placement into Biology 260.
Nursing Program Prerequisites
To check if your coursework from another college or universities
meet the admission prerequisites and the required general
education courses for the Nursing Program, contact the Nursing
Department in Room R130. If your courses were completed
at one of the Washington State colleges or universities, you
can search for their BCC equivalencies in the following nursing
program equivalency table:

Pre-Admission Equivalency Table (PDF)
Transcript/Report Card Requirements
For checking prerequisites, an unofficial copy of your transcript
or report card is acceptable, but it must include the following
information:
-
Your name (if the name is different than the one indicated
on your BCC records, also provide proof of name change)
-
Name of the college or university
-
Course(s) taken including the term, title, grade, and
number of credits
Other Required Information
Course descriptions are needed for courses that were completed
prior to 1994.
