Vista Server Status

Current Status

The number of concurrent Blackboard Vista sessions is: [ 63 ].

The number of concurrent sessions is updated every five (5) minutes. Press your browser's “refresh” to update your view. Normal traffic for Blackboard Vista can be up to 1000 sessions. If more than 1000 sessions are reported, you might experience slowdown in some Vista processes. If the server is running normally but you are experiencing problems, see "Troubles?" below.

If the number of sessions is stated to be [ UNAVAILABLE ], the server is down and our technicians will have been notified. You can also file a report as follows.

Normal Maintenance Period

The hours from 04:00 to 06:00 AM every Thursday morning are reserved for normal maintenance and will result in downtime during this period. Normally only a system reboot of 10-30 minutes duration will take place, but the time is reserved for longer maintenance if the need develops during the week.

Troubles?

Here are some first steps.

If the Server is NOT Down, the problem you are experiencing may be with your computer or local network or with the Internet connection between your computer and the classroom servers at BC. Here's how to start troubleshooting.

First, If this page indicates that everything is fine, wait about 10 minutes and check again, just to make sure the problem has not just happened and this page has not yet been updated. (Start with a new browser to make sure you are not just seeing the last page you accessed.)

Second, if this page still insists that the server is running normally, then you need to check out your entire system. Your ISP may be down, there may have been an automatic update to your firewall, or someone may have installed a pop-up blocker or other problematic software on your system since the last time you accessed Vista. All these and more could be the source of the problem. As a first step, go to the troubleshooting page on the Distance Education website and follow the instructions on that page. If you cannot connect with your Vista classroom after attempting corrective action, be sure to contact your course instructor by BC e-mail or BC telephone.
