Introduces students to the basics of the Internet, including connecting to the Internet, browsing the Web, searching for information, and understanding Web pages.

The text assumes that students are using Microsoft Office 2007. Although Office 2007 is not required, if you are using an older version or another software product additional steps may be required in order to submit a complete homework package.

Deadlines: The course contains deadlines for completing assignments. The course may be completed before the end of the quarter; however, it cannot be extended past quarter end.

Homework Procedures

Students are to read the book and work through the Hands-on Exercises as preparation for any assignments and assessments.

Homework assignments are described in a separate Assignment sheet. Students will submit all homework electronically following the instructions at the Assignment tool (and any attached instructions). T

The instructor will grade the submissions and return the work indicating whether the work was correct and giving any necessary suggestions for improvement.

What If I Have Special Needs or If Something Unusual Makes It Hard For Me To Finish This Course?

Students requiring any special accommodations for the course should make arrangements at the beginning of the term through advisors/counselors in B132 or by calling 564-2498 TTY line, (425) 564-4110.

If you require accommodation based on a documented disability, emergency medical information to share, or need special arrangements in case of emergency evacuation, please make an appointment with your instructor as soon as possible.

In addition, if you have a situation that occurs during the quarter that affects your ability to do the work, please contact the instructor immediately. Often there is a way to work together to enable you to finish the course. The instructor cannot do anything if you wait until the end of the quarter before indicating that you’re having a problem.

If you know you won’t be able to finish the course, please withdraw from the course and let the instructor know that you are not finishing. If you decide that you can’t finish the course after the last day to withdraw, please contact the instructor.

When Can I Pick Up My Work And When Will I Know My Grade?

All work submitted on time will be returned the end of the quarter. Student work is not kept. After the end of the quarter, the electronic work will be deleted.

Late Work: Any work received after the due date is considered late. Late work will be discounted at the rate of 2 points per day late, including weekends.

All written work is expected to following the BCC Benchmarks for Written Communications as adapted by the BTS program. Those guidelines are located at the course web site. Read them carefully before submitting any e-mail assignments.

Course Schedule

The course schedule will be made available at the Vista class site.

Important Points to remember:
  1. You must have a browser and an Internet connection to both take an on-line class and to take this class in particular.
  2. Students requiring or who believe that they may be eligible for special accommodations must make arrangements with Student Services early in the quarter. Making these arrangements is the responsibility of the student not of the instructor.
  3. No incompletes are given.
  4. Late points will be deducted at the rate of 2 points per day late on all assignments. Work over one week late will not be accepted.

This course contains deadlines. The duration of the course is the quarter of enrollment. Extensions past the end of the quarter are not possible.
