Advising and Assessment Testing

Advising For Distance Education Students

The Distance Education program offers special academic advising for students who plan to fulfill most or all of their degree requirements through distance courses. Distance Education staff and advisors will help you plan your program to ensure that you receive the credits you need for your study interests.  We can also serve as contacts in case you have questions or concerns during your course work.

First, we urge you to:

• Decide. Is distance learning for you? 
• Check the academic calendar to find out where you are in the academic year. 
• Consult the List of Distance Courses to review current and upcoming offerings.

Courses offered for the next quarter are posted prior to the start of registration. If you don't see next quarter's Distance-Ed course schedule here, check back later. (Distance-Ed courses are also posted together with on-campus courses at http://bellevuecollege.edu/schedule/, Look for courses coded OAS, OBS, etc.)

Assessment Testing

Before you can register for Bellevue College credit courses, you must take the English and math assessments. Before you may take the assessment tests for math and English, you must be enrolled at Bellevue College and have received your BC Student Identification Number (SID).

If you intend to pursue your degree or certificate entirely online and are at a great distance from the campus, the English assessment and/or math assessment can be taken at a distance by special arrangement. Contact the Distance Education Office.

Bellevue College's Math and English Departments require all students who live within 35 miles of campus to come to campus for computer-based testing.
