Please Note: When you sign up for an online class, it is with the understanding that you can use the Internet and World Wide Web and the computer without assistance. Certain providers do not offer all of the tools that you need to take an online class. It is your responsibility to determine if your equipment will support your successful communication with the Vista site and your course instructor. Please remember that the course instructor is not responsible for your hardware and/or software requirements. For a smooth quarter, please try to take care of any problem by the end of the first week. If you need assistance using Vista, please attend one of the open sessions that are offered during the first week of the quarter. If you need more assistance, you must seek help from the Vista Online Support (usually through Distance Education) or you may want to stop by BC Lab, room N250, and get help in person.

COURSE POLICIES:

It is understood that those students who are enrolled in this class can read, write, and speak English at the college level.

This is an online course and therefore, all correspondence should be via the Internet.

Each student must communicate with the instructor if he/she has any questions. All questions, suggestions, comments, and/or concerns are welcome. The e-mail option is available in the site. Students must check for any responses in that e-mail tool. The instructor checks his emails several times a day from Monday through Friday (excluding the weekends and holidays).

Announcements will be added to the site at various times. Students are responsible for reading those announcements

It is crucial that you have the time to go online several times a week to check weekly activities, i.e. check for any updates, read mail and announcements, view presentations, submit the assignments on time, and take the scheduled quizzes and final exam.

Students with a disability that may require some form of accommodation need to discuss their specific situation with Disability Resource Center (DRC). If you require accommodation based on a documented disability, emergency medical information to share, or need special arrangements in case of emergency evacuation, please make an appointment with DRC. If you would like to inquire about becoming a DRC student, you may call 564-2498 or go in person to the DRC reception area in the Student Services Building (B132). If this is not done during the first week of the quarter, it is assumed that the student does not have a disability requiring some form of accommodation. (Please see next paragraph as well)

Please remember that this class, BUS 145, is an online class and therefore, communication is very essential. If you are disabled and need specific accommodation, you must inform the DRC Staff to inform the instructor immediately; otherwise, the instructor is not obligated to accommodate your special needs. Also, due to heavy load or perhaps waiting for a specific documentation, the DRC Staff may not be able to process your work during the first week. In this case, please let your instructor know that you have applied and are waiting to receive the result so that your instructor can begin accommodating your needs. Please remember that if your status changes during the quarter, the instructor will accommodate your needs only from the date the notification memo is sent to the instructor by the DRC Staff. Your cooperation and understanding is highly appreciated.

Sharing/cheating on quizzes, assignments, discussions, or other student written work will not be tolerated. Sharing/Cheating is a serious offense and will result in a failing grade for the course. You may be asked to come to a face-to-face meeting on BC campus. A report may also be written and sent to the Dean of Students which may be filed in your permanent record.

If you decide to withdraw from the course or change the status, please check the deadline set by the Registration Office.  The instructor does not drop students from his classes.  It is your responsibility to do this.

No extra credit will be available during the quarter. However, circumstances may arise (seldom) that the instructor may consider giving extra credit to increase the class average. Also, in most quarters, one of the lowest scored discussions, assignments, and quizzes will be dropped prior to calculating the final course grade.

For a successful quarter, on a regular basis, PLEASE check the Course Syllabus, Course Outline, Course Calendar, E-Mails, and Announcements, every week throughout the quarter.

The instructor reserves the right to alter any information on this document, General Information about the Course, to better meet the needs of the class.
