About this Student Career Conference

This conference is free, but requires registration. This conference is held biennially at Bellevue Community College. The next conference will be on November 7, 2006.

MISSION:  Provide industry and education speakers, panels, break-out sessions and booths to inform, inspire and interact with diverse students regarding careers in science, math, technology and business.

The second career conference for high school and community college students – focusing on science, technology, engineering, math and business occupations – will be held Nov. 7, 2006 at Bellevue Community College (BCC). Director of the Museum of Flight and former astronaut, Dr. Bonnie Dunbar, will be the keynote speaker. At the last Connect to Your Future conference held in 2004, over 1600 students from BCC, other community colleges, and several local high schools flocked to the BCC campus to attend events jointly planned by The Boeing Company and BCC. The conference was groundbreaking in its planning and scope.

The free, full-day conference offered speakers and panel discussions to inspire and give direction to students’ career planning in the identified fields.

“We are supporting this major careers conference because, as a company, Boeing is only as good as the workforce of the future,” said Jerry Bunce, Information Technology Educational Relations for The Boeing Company and one of the conference key organizers.  “There are many exciting opportunities today in science, engineering, technology and mathematics careers. This conference will let students hear from real life role models with winding roads to success. They will share their passion for discovery. Science and Technology are the tools to create the future and our goal in this conference is to inspire students to pursue these exciting careers.”

Career discussions will led by panels of experts in the targeted fields, focusing on such areas as life sciences, the environment, technology, software, and engineering. Other panels focus on global careers, women and diversity.
