Advisors Can Help Students Assess Reading Readiness

How hard is it to succeed in college classes?  Students new to college are often surprised by how much they are expected to learn on their own.  Almost all of this learning comes reading texts associated with the course.  In fact,  a student's ability to learn independently from texts is a key indicator of their ability to succeed in college level courses.

This tool allows students to read some texts assigned in BCC courses and then test whether they are able to learn what a BCC instructor would expect them to be able to learn on their own.   As an advisor, you can view other students' answers to the same questions and provide come context for the student.  You can also point the student to RESOURCES FOR IMPROVING READING SKILLS.
