What Instructors Can Learn From Students about their Texts

How well do your students learn from the texts you assign?  May academic texts are written with heavy noun phrases, passive tenses and other burdensome grammar constructions.  In addition to this, texts written for academic purposes often make assumptions about the level of familiarity a reader might have with concepts and vocabulary from the discipline.

This tool allows you to test the readings you assign.  You may upload any reading and have your students complete a CLOZE test with that reading.  The result of the CLOZE test will give you a sense of how difficult your text is for the majority of your students.

It is very interesting to take a CLOZE test in a different discipline.  You might be surprised by how much you don't know!
