Continuation of JAPN& 123. Students practice listening, speaking, reading and writing in integrated activities relating to a main theme. More kanji and relevant aspects of Japanese culture are introduced. Prerequisite: JAPN& 123 or permission of instructor.
Outcomes:
After completing this class, students should be able to:
- read 48 new kanji characters
- Describe what one can do / one’s abilities
- Give two or more reasons for something
- Express one’s visual impression of something
- Talk about what one wishes to try to do (to find out what it’s like)
- Express how often or how long one does something
- Count number of days
- Talk on the phone
- Write about one’s first impression
- Express one’s object of desire
- Make a guess
- Talk about giving and receiving an item
- Convey advice or suggestion
- Count small roundish items, bound volumes, small animals, long cylindrical objects, equipment and thin, flat objects
- Suggest a plan to a close friend
- Talk about one’s determination
- Describe an action one performs in advance / in preparation
- Modify and describe an item
