Description:
Develops beginning level listening and conversation skills along with reading and writing hiragana and katakana characters. Some relevant aspects of Japanese culture are introduced.
Outcomes:
After completing this class, students should be able to:
- read and write hiragana characters
- read and write katakana characters
- Use appropriate greeting phrases
- Count from 0 – 100
- Ask and tell time
- Exchange telephone numbers
- Introduce oneself
- Ask someone’s name, age, nationality, year in school, and major
- Count from 100 – 90,000
- Shop (Ask and tell prices)
- Ask who the item belongs to
- Place an order at a restaurant
- Write one’s name horizontally and vertically in Japanese
- Talk about one’s daily schedule
- Invite someone
- Accept and Decline an invitation
- Write about one’s daily routine
- Ask and describe who or what is at a location
- Ask and describe where someone or something is
