Allows specialized or in-depth study of a subject supplementing the Communications curriculum. Student interest and instructor expertise help determine the topic. Prerequisite: Permission of instructor.
Outcomes:
After completing this class, students should be able to:
1. list and explain the milestones in the history of special effects and how these effects in turn changed the way films were made. 2. analyze and explain a variety of special effects, from stop-motion to blue screen to digital effects. 3. apply, as part of a production team, the techniques and concepts presented in the class in order to do f/x for a Making Movies project
