Description:

Covers film and digital SLR camera operation, photographic theory and practical application as it relates to law enforcement photography.

Outcomes:

After completing this class, students should be able to:

Learning Outcomes: At the end of this course, students will be able to: 1. Demonstrate the ability to direct the purchase of necessary equipment to appropriately photograph a crime scene. 2. Demonstrate and explain their understanding of basic to intermediate camera and flash operations. 3. Demonstrate their ability to pick the correct film/digital media and how that relates to shutter speeds, apertures and light to create usable photographic images for investigation purposes. 4. Demonstrate their ability to approach and photographically document a crime scene. 5. Demonstrate their ability to photograph minor injuries of a victim. 6. Explain the difference between overall crime scene photography and forensic photography 7. Demonstrate a basic understanding of tire and footprint photography that can be applied in crime scene investigation. 8. Demonstrate the ability to maintain images in a legally acceptable manner for current and future use.
