Is a career in IT right for me?
Cyber Careers has useful information about the many careers in IT. To help newcomers learn about and determine which job is right for them the IT Interest Survey can narrow down the many choices. For those who are more IT savvy, vendor assessments are available which can identify skills needed to become an expert. For example, Microsoft Corporation has many free assessments to help gauge current knowledge of their products and identify the skill gaps.
 
Where can I enroll in an IT program?
Many Community Colleges in Washington State have a variety of IT programs available. Check WorkforceCollege.com for a complete listing. For example, the BCC Business Division offers degrees and certificates in various IT disciplines, and for worker retraining BCC Continuing Education offers a variety of certificate programs for high demand topics in IT.
 
Where can I find a job to match my new IT skills?
Did you know that approximately 80% of the IT jobs are in non-IT focused businesses? WorkSource Washington provides a wealth of resources plus an up to date career events calendar for the state of Washington. The BCC Career Center and other Community Colleges offer career resources for students and graduates seeking assistance in locating jobs.
